Mark Silva
Since 2007, Mark Silva has been an extremely active member of Keep McAllen Beautiful. He currently serves on the executive board as treasurer; in this position, he has helped KMB streamline its operations and become more efficient while operating on a modest annual budget. However, he does much more for KMB than his formal title suggests -- he’s been a key member in an ongoing local initiative that encourages people to use fewer plastic bags and opt for reusable canvas bag. Mark has also been a key advisory member of another local project that promotes the beautification of several campuses in the McAllen school district.
Still, his impact on the board and in the community is best measured by the positive influence he has on those around him. His creative and innovative ideas have helped the organization extend its reach into crucial civic and commercial sectors of the community. A busy father of two, Mark is a very active parent at his daughters’ school, but he nevertheless finds time for the many projects and events that KMB sponsors and/or coordinates. He rearranges his schedule to be available when help is needed most, and on the actual day of any given event, Mark always offers to pick up last minute supplies; moreover, he usually gives his time until the very end, helping to pack supplies at the event’s conclusion and return everything to KMB’s main office.
Mark has dedicated many Saturday mornings to help KMB with neighborhood cleanups or other beautification projects, and he’s all too eager to share his enthusiasm and energy with other event volunteers. He is among the most vocal of all KMB supporters and wastes no time in promoting recycling and the conservation of natural resources. Mark’s participation, input and support have made him an invaluable asset to Keep McAllen Beautiful. KMB and KTB wish to congratulate Mark for all he has done, and will continue to do, to keep Texas beautiful!
