NEW Keep Texas Beautiful Ornament Dedicated to Lady Bird Johnson
KTB proudly introduced the Fourth Edition Ornament at conference this July. This year’s ornament is dedicated to Lady Bird Johnson and features a bouquet of wildflowers. Ornaments are only $18 each or $14.40 each for orders of 25 or more (may be a combination of all four editions). Ornaments make great gifts for speakers, sponsors, or board members and can be resold locally by your affiliate as a fundraising item. Now Available - KTB Souvenir License Plates
You can now order a Keep Texas Beautiful/Don’t Mess with Texas souvenir license plate to display in your home or office! KTB s ouvenir license plates can be used as gifts, mementos, decorations, giveaway items, prizes, and more. Souvenir plates are only $20 and can be personalized for an additional $10. Texas Waterway Cleanup Program Kicks off New Season!
The Texas Waterway Cleanup Program (formerly the Lake & River Cleanup Program) has kicked off a new season and outreach campaign!Receive free planning, cleanup, and promotional supplies such as garbage bags, gloves, litter pick-up tools, sunblock lotion, a sample press release, customized posters, and more! Free Green Events Toolkit Online
KTB is pleased to offer a FREE Green Events Toolkit for affiliates and other organizations that want to prevent litter and promote recycling at community events! In addition to the in-depth manual, there is a Green Events brochure containing a quick “to-do” checklist! To download the toolkit and brochure, visit www.ktb.org/greenevents.htm. The toolkit was developed as part of a “Green Teams” pilot program held in the fall of 2006 as a partnership between The Coca-Cola Company and KTB .

 

GAC and Trash-Off Results
Thank you to everyone who organized and/or participated in a Great American Cleanup or Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off event this spring. Look what you and volunteers across Texas accomplished this year!

Great American Cleanup Totals*:
4179 events
131,005 volunteers
14.3 million pounds of litter collected
2.5 million pounds of aluminum and steel recycled

Trash-Off Totals:
1,834 events
48,087 volunteers
3.2 million pounds of litter collected
8,900 miles of roadways cleaned

Thanks to everyone who returned a wrap-up report. Prize drawing winners for completed reports turned in on time were Baird, Grapevine, Killeen, McAllen, Pearland, and Whitehouse (six-pack of KTB coke bottles) and Blanco (Troy-Bilt Yard Vac).

YEL! for Texas Youth
Keep Texas Beautiful’s new program, YEL! (Young Environmental Leaders), is aimed at getting campuses, youth groups, and individuals involved in caring for the environment. The program is an improved combination of KTB’s Youth Environmental Stewards (YES) and Campus Affiliate Program and offers three levels of membership: Campus (free to any PTA sponsored campus, but open to all campuses with membership fee), Green Groups! (for scout troops, sports teams, classrooms, etc.) and Individual . Benefits include a membership certificate, access to project ideas and resources, KTB newsletters and emails, free trash bags for KTB sponsored programs, and more!
