NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE DAY
National & Global Youth Service Day (N&GYSD) is the largest youth service event in the world, engaging millions of young Americans and focusing national attention on the amazing leadership of young people. The 20 th Annual National & Global Youth Service Day will take place on April 25-27, 2008, but all projects held in April may be counted. To register your NYSD project, get project ideas, find helpful materials, and more visit www.YSA.org/nysd/. Registering your event enables Youth Service America to highlight these projects through the national media campaign.
TEXAS WATERWAY CLEANUP PROGRAM WRAP-UP FORMS
Please remember to complete and return a wrap-up form following your cleanup event if you are registered in the Texas Waterway Cleanup Program this spring. If it is your first time to hold a waterway cleanup, you may find it helpful to review the form before the event. Each report received within 10 days after the cleanup automatically enters you into a prize drawing for a gift certificate for a one-year Texas State Parks pass (value $60)! For a form, or to register a cleanup, visit www.ktb.org/programs/twc.
KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL RENEWS RELATIONSHIP WITH PHI THETA KAPPA
Keep America Beautiful will continue its partnership with Phi Theta Kappa, and its “Operation Green: Improving Our Communities" International Service Program, through 2010. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with 1,250 chapters worldwide. Phi Theta Kappa conducts its International Service Program on a biennial basis. KAB is the only organization other than the American Cancer Society to have this relationship renewed beyond the initial two-year commitment. The four focus areas of "Operation Green" are Education and Raising Awareness, Recycling, Beautification, and Clean Communities. While the service program is not a requirement for membership in the Society, it is strongly encouraged. More than 600 Phi Theta Kappa chapters participated with KAB in the first two years of participation. To learn more about the program visit www.ptk.org/service. You can also read how the partnership has benefited Texas affiliates in Grassroots Vol. 26, Issue 3, available at www.ktb.org/newsletters.
