Ken Riley
Keep Midland Beautiful

October 2012

Ken Riley is the type of volunteer that every affiliate wants - and needs! A 35-year resident of Midland, he has been involved with Keep Midland Beautiful (KMB) for four and a half years. He has served on the Board of Directors of Keep Midland Beautiful, serving as a past Chairman of the Board and Ex-Officio.

Ken has helped at every event since joining KMB, including two annual cleanups, an annual fundraiser, and annual Texas Recycles Day event. He is part of the committees for each event, has been Chairman for several cleanups, and also offers his help in other ways. Anything he can do to help, he's your man!

When Ken was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of KMB, he took his job seriously. He met the ED for lunch the day before the Board meeting each month to discuss the agenda. He also made a beautiful gavel in his woodturning group that he donated to the Board after his "reign.”

Enthusiasm for the mission of Keep Midland Beautiful shines from Ken at every meeting he attends and every event he leads or participates in. He is proud to be part of the organization and it shows. He is always punctual and hates to miss meetings. If he hasn't been in touch with the KMB office for awhile, he will call just to check in and see how everyone is doing.

Ken is interested in everything that KMB does with litter prevention, recycling and beautification.
He has recruited volunteers and new Board of Directors, and has used his connections to secure sponsors for the two annual cleanups and for the annual fundraiser. He has secured a location at his place of work for KMB to hold its Texas Recycles Day event and rooms to have meetings. He takes care of the KMB trailer and drives his personal pickup to haul it when it is needed at events. Setting up signs In Midland is difficult because of the hard ground due to the persistent drought conditions. Ken took on the challenge and set out signs encouraging people to participate in KMB cleanup events.
