Keep Texas Beautiful Elects New Officers and Board Members
Debbie Johnston of Lufkin Elected President
Mary Ann Clark of Dallas, Bob Horton of Irving, and Julio Reyes of Corpus Christi Elected to Board of Directors for Statewide Nonprofit
(Austin, Texas) – Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement organization, elected officers and new members to the Board of Directors at its annual meeting on Thursday, June 29 in Plano. Debbie Johnston from Abitibi-Consolidated, Inc. was elected as President, while Mary Ann Clark from LCA Environmental Inc.; Bob Horton from Keep Irving Beautiful; and Julio Reyes from American Electric Power, were each elected to the board.
Debbie Johnston has served on the KTB Board of Directors since 1996. She currently chairs the Leadership Committee and serves on the Executive Committee and, over the past 10 years, has held positions in numerous other committees including Communications and Fund Development. Mrs. Johnston is the Regional Manager of Marketing and Public Affairs for Abitibi-Consolidated. She has worked for the company for 16 years, supporting many divisions of the company’s operations, from paper and wood products manufacturing operations, to forestry and recycling. She currently provides communications and government affairs support to five of the company’s recycling centers across Texas. Mrs. Johnston is a member of the Texas Forest Industries Council and serves on the board of the Texas Association of Business.
Mary Ann Clark, C.P.A. is the President and CEO of LCA Environmental Inc., where she supervises environmental professionals, performs environmental site assessments, and carries out marketing duties for the firm. Recently, Ms. Clark has worked with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to provide program management and cost control on TxDOT Environmental Affairs Work Authorizations. She previously served on the City of Dallas Environmental Health Commission from 1999-2002 and was Director of Society of Texas Environmental Professionals from 1998-2001.
Bob Horton has served as the Administrator for Keep Irving Beautiful, a KTB affiliate, since 2000. He has brings a wealth of non-profit management experience and understanding of Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and KTB programs to the Board of Directors. Mr. Horton directed Keep Houston Beautiful from 1977-1987, studied the academic foundation of the KAB System while teaching non-profit management, and co-led creation of the University of North Texas Volunteer Management Certification Program. He is a KAB Professional Leadership award winner and formally served on the KAB National Training Team.
Julio C. Reyes is Vice President of External Affairs for American Electric Power (AEP) operations in Texas. He has more than 30 years experience working and building relationships across Texas with community leaders and elected officials at the local, county, and state level. His responsibilities have included environmental and economic development issues, corporate communications, and governmental affairs. Mr. Reyes is an active volunteer in his community and has participated in many fundraising efforts throughout the state for organizations such as the American Cancer Society and United Way.
