Keep Texas Beautiful believes it is vital to educate youth so that they can become good environmental stewards for the future. We offer a variety of programs and activities for youth so that they can help make Texas the cleanest, most beautiful state in the nation.
Please take a moment to browse the great youth programs and resources KTB provides:
YEL! - Young Environmental Leaders :: Keep Texas Beautiful’s YEL! (Young Environmental Leaders) program is aimed at getting campuses, youth groups, and individuals involved in caring for the environment. The program offers three level of membership: Campus, Green Groups!, and individual.
Campus Affiliate :: The Campus Affiliate Program, piloted in 2005, was developed to support the KTB community affiliate program and is now a membership level of the YEL! program. Help keep your campus beautiful by making your school a Campus Affiliate (free to PTA-sponsored campuses).
Waste In Place :: Waste In Place is a K-8 curriculum which has been correlated to the Texas Education Agency's Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Teachers use the hands-on curriculum to teach young Texans about litter prevention, recycling/waste reduction, beautification and community improvement.
Educational Activities & Links :: Keep Texas Beautiful has a great list of activities, lesson plans, and helpful links to help engage and support young environmental leaders!
Patch Program :: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire youth or other youth group members may earn patches by participating in various events.
“PB” (Push Broom) the Keep Texas Beautiful Youth Mascot :: PB, the Keep Texas Beautiful youth mascot, was created in honor of “O. P.” Schnabel, a founding member of Keep Texas Beautiful, who was often referred to as “Old Push Broom.” KTB has PB images that are available for use as well as a PB costume that your affiliate can rent!
