KTB provides training to our affiliate network that covers a diverse range of topics pertaining to local initiatives and programs related to the three KTB focus areas: litter prevention, beautification and waste reduction.

There is no charge to attend KTB workshops, but pre-registration is required. Introduction to KTB and Awards Trainings are open to all; other workshops are offered for KTB Affiliate Coordinators, volunteers and board members only.

INTRODUCTION TO KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL AND GUIDE TO AFFILIATE COORDINATION

8 STEPS TO ACHIEVING YOUR OFFICIAL STATUS FROM KTB

Sometimes the steps to becoming an official KTB affiliate can be overwhelming. This webinar will help you to understand the 8 steps to achieving official status. We will provide examples of successful affiliates and best practices to use for your organization. Any questions or concerns you may have about becoming an official KTB affiliate can be answered in this session.

EVENT TIPS AND IDEAS: GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP AND DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS TRASH-OFF

Looking to host a cleanup event, but don’t know where to start? Well, begin HERE! We will go over the best ways to plan a community cleanup event and different event ideas. There is a lot that goes into a cleanup event, and we will provide all the necessary information. This webinar is a great place to get a jump start in planning for the Great American Cleanup and Don’t mess with Texas Trash-Off in the spring!

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

This training will help affiliates evaluate their programs to assess efficiency, effectiveness and areas of improvement based on key program areas.  Keep Pearland Beautiful implemented this program evaluation in 2012 and it has helped KPB assess where to invest time, energy and resources.  A simple survey of key stakeholders such as board members, organizational members, and volunteers helps evaluate programs based on two key factors: impact and profitability.

TOOLS TO TELL YOUR STORY

Storytelling is conveying events in words, images and sounds. Your affiliate can use storytelling to educate, engage, and captivate supporters. In today’s busy, multi-media world, film and pictures are a great way to share your organization’s story in a lasting and memorable way. This training will provide tips on successful storytelling and introduce you to the different tools available to aid you in the process.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT PART I – RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING

Looking to utilize volunteers in an effective manner? This training will help you to understand how volunteers can be beneficial and how to correctly train them. We will focus on ways to recruit, utilize, and organize volunteers so that both parties have a positive experience!

This second session in a two-part training will provide you with information on how to be a successful volunteer organization. It can be hard to keep volunteers coming back, but we will provide tips and resources that can help maintain a strong volunteer community. Also, we will provide tips on how to use your volunteers in a way that increases productivity and revenue!

FEE-BASED TRAININGS

BOARD DEVELOPMENT/STRATEGIC PLANNING

This session includes a one-on-one planning session with a KTB Program Director to develop a tailor-fit training for your board or organization.


WASTE IN PLACE

Learn fun, hands-on activities that develop students’ awareness and knowledge of solid waste and the environment. Learn more about Waste In Place.


WASTE IN PLACE TRAIN-THE-TRAINER

Interested in becoming a certified Waste In Place (WIP) trainer or looking to be trained on the updated material? Keep Texas Beautiful, with support from Progressive Waste Solutions, is offering Train-the-Trainer workshops to volunteers and affiliate members interested in becoming certified trainers. Through a two-day education program, KTB and Keep America Beautiful will train eligible candidates so that they can conduct WIP educator workshops in their community.

Eligibility Requirements

The Waste In Place Train-the-Trainer workshop is meant for experienced formal and non-formal educators looking for an opportunity to learn new material to take back and train other educators in their community.
