Waste in Place Workshop

Educators must attend a six-hour training workshop to use the WIP Curricula.

Educators can attend a six-hour training workshop to learn how to use the WIP curricula with their students. These workshops are designed to encourage educators to approach learning and teaching with an environmental perspective.

Workshop Goals:

  • Build an awareness and knowledge of solid waste problems
  • Discover proper waste handling practices
  • Be inspired to take positive actions concerning solid waste and its effects on people and the environment

Participants receive six hours of Continuing Professional Education credit through the Texas Education Agency, as needed.

Waste in Place Train-the-Trainer

Waste in Place Train-the-Trainer

Interested in becoming a certified Waste in Place (WIP) trainer or looking to be trained on the updated material? Keep Texas Beautiful, with support from Progressive Waste Solutions, offers Train-the-Trainer workshops to volunteers and affiliate members interested in becoming certified trainers. Through a two-day education program, KTB will train eligible candidates to conduct WIP educator workshops in their community.

Eligibility Requirements
The Waste in Place Train-the-Trainer workshop is meant for experienced formal and non-formal educators looking for an opportunity to learn new material to take back and train other educators in their community. Trainers must have previously attended a Waste in Place workshop.

Trainers agree to the following:

  • Co-lead a workshop with a current trainer within 9 months of completing the trainer workshop.
  • Submit all required data (evaluations, wrap up report, etc.) on each workshop conducted to KTB within 2 weeks of the workshop, utilizing the pre-approved materials.
  • Agree that any trainer fee and reimbursement will be based on the fee and reimbursement schedule approved and provided by KTB, when applicable.
  • Agree to train on a statewide basis with emphasis on the region where s/he lives for a minimum of 2 years from the date of the trainer workshop.
